He teaches them and shows them how small they are in their thinking. No matter the enormity of the miracles they have seen, they still demand one more demonstration of his Godly power. Like small petulant children who never have enough, they want more from the God who has already shown them what they can do.  
And, Jesus then tells Peter that he is the rock upon which Jesus’s church will be built. And, no, that doesn’t mean Jesus told Peter that he would be the first pope or found the Catholic Church. In case you haven’t noticed, Jesus is not fond of hierarchy and corrupted leaders. 

Listen as we discuss Jesus’s teachings in Matthew Chapter 15, when He makes it crystal clear that it’s not what goes in your mouth that kills you spiritually. It’s what comes out of your mouth. And, in this Chapter of Matthew continues to show His mastery over the nature that He created. 

Jesus not just the resurrected Lord. He is also the King and author of all Creation. He is eternal and was with God the Father and the Holy Spirit at the moment of creation. Hence, all the forces of nature, which operate solely according to God’s laws (in order, they are: mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology) are within His control. And control them He does, in Matthew Chapter 14. 

In our look at Matthew 13, we delve into Jesus’s use of parables to impart critical lessons to all of us. The parable is a powerful teaching tool that compels the reader or listener to think more deeply about a subject. It is clear from His sophisticated use of them that Jesus expected His followers to exercise their rational and critical thinking skills to grasp His Word and apply it to their own lives. 

The Chinese Communist Party, under the direction of its supreme leader is rewriting The Bible to make it fit a heathen culture. In fact, their rewrite is so reprehensible that it will include Jesus killing a woman. We kid you not. In Matthew 8, Jesus delivers some of His most powerful lessons on the meaning and power of faith. In the hierarchy of redemption, faith precedes all else. It comes before repentance and most certainly before obedience; indeed, it is the mechanism by which repentance occurs and good works issue from us. Good works don’t produce salvation; that comes only from faith in Jesus Christ, the resurrected son of The Most High. 

In Matthew Chapter 8, Jesus makes a dramatic shift: He is no longer just teaching in the synagogue and speaking to His followers, He begins performing miracles that have physical manifestations. Thus, He is showing that He is indeed Lord of all, including all the elements of the natural world. Jesus’s interaction with a faithful Roman Centurion is one of the most most beautiful accounts of faith in the Bible, and it is restated, with a couple of interesting new facts, Luke. In Matthew Chapter 7, Jesus teaches about judgment and what it means…and also what it doesn’t mean. Unfortunately, in the modern church, which is weak, soft, ineffective, and Scripturally ignorant, these words get twisted all the time into a blanket prohibition against ever drawing reasonable conclusions about an issue or a person.
